Full course description

MGT489 Managing Public, Private and NGO Partnerships to Prepare for and Solve Critical Logistics and Supply Chain Challenges During Large Scale Disasters

The course goal is to enhance public, private and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) partnerships to prepare for and manage critical logistics and supply chain challenges during large-scale disaster situations, including coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Supply chains (SCs) provide community lifeline goods and services. In times of disaster, even SCs that were previously functioning well can experience significant disruption, generating acute life-safety challenges and quickly turning a disaster into a catastrophe. The COVID-19 pandemic is an unparalleled modern health crisis that has uniquely impacted SC management. By mid-March 2020, more than 75% of companies reported significant SC disruptions. SCs that effectively adapt to disasters greatly benefit the entire community and its lifelines and can reduce the need for a larger more prolonged response and recovery operation.

A required prerequisite course is available online through Canvas to be completed prior to the start of MGT489 instruction.  The web based course is titled AWR425W Introduction to Managing Public, Private and NGO Partnerships to Prepare for and Solve Critical Logistics and Supply Chain Challenges During Large Scale Disasters.
